Georgia, Georgia on my mind. I can see why Ray Charles couldn’t help but sing about this amazing southern coastal state. For us it is all about Savannah, filled with cobblestone streets, manicured parks, horse-drawn carriages, historic live oak trees and antebellum architecture. This historic city is a short drive from Atlanta and an escape from the mundane.
Strolling the streets can fill a day looking at beautiful homes, historic churches and eating real southern food. If you’re like us you’ll eat entirely too many fried green tomatoes or a pound (or 2) of butter at Paula Dean’s restaurant. Luckily one of the best ways around the city is the Old Town Trolleys that let you hop on and off all day and see the city while sitting back seeing over 100 points of interest along the way.
For those with a darker side, historic cemetery and ghost tours are an alternative to the normal night life. Filled with some goosebumps and a little historical facts and folklore. Definitely a way to mix up an otherwise proper southern vacation.
